What you get
- Six ready tables: Score history, AI visibility vs competitors, Issue trend by category, Sites, Open issues and AI answers.
- Sensible default charts for each table, so a new data source shows something useful straight away.
- Filters by site, assistant, intent and sentiment, and the report's date range applied to the data.
- A report template you can copy and brand for each client.
Before you start
- An OLAB Assist account on the Agency plan, signed in as the account owner.
- A Google account for Looker Studio (free).
- An API key. You create it in the first step.
Set it up step by step
Create an API key
Go to Integrations, type a name such as “Looker Studio” and click Create key. Copy the key: it is shown only once.
Click “Connect in Looker Studio”
In the Looker Studio block, click the button. Looker Studio opens with the OLAB Assist connector (and our report template, when available).
Authorize the connector
Google asks you to allow the connector to reach an external service. Click Authorize. If Google says the app is not verified yet, choose Advanced → Continue.
Paste your API key
Paste the key from step 1 and continue.
Choose a table and site
Pick a table (start with Score history) and All sites or one site, then click Connect and Create report.
Add more tables
Add a data source per table (Resource → Manage added data sources → Add). Combine them in one report with the Site field.
What is sent
| Field | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Score history | One row per scan: date, site, overall, SEO, GEO, AEO, AIO, critical issues, warnings. Default chart: GEO score over time. |
| AI visibility vs competitors | One row per tracked brand in each answer: date, site, brand, own brand, assistant, question, intent, times named, times cited, rank. |
| Issue trend by category | One row per scan and category: critical issues, warnings, open issues, category score. |
| Sites | Site, brand, last checked, scores, issues, AI answers checked, answers naming the brand, named rate, rank. |
| Open issues | Site, issue, status, category, impact, evidence, how to fix, where. |
| AI answers | Date, site, question, intent, assistant, named, cited, sentiment, brands named. |
Tips
- Set Data freshness on each data source to 15 minutes or 1 hour if clients should see new scans quickly.
- For a competitor chart: time series from AI visibility vs competitors, metric Times named, breakdown Brand.
- Use one API key per tool. If you revoke the Looker Studio key, only Looker Studio stops.
- Share reports with clients as view-only. They see the data through your connection; they do not need an OLAB Assist account.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| There is no “Connect in Looker Studio” button | Your plan is not Agency, or you are signed in as a team member. Only the owner of an Agency account sees it. |
| “Invalid API key” | The key was copied incompletely or revoked. Create a new key; it starts with olab_. |
| “This app isn't verified” | Expected while Google reviews the connector. Choose Advanced → Continue. Your data only goes to OLAB Assist's API. |
| Charts are empty | Check the date range (Score history and AI answers follow it) and that the site has been scanned. |
Questions
How fresh is the data?
Looker Studio keeps the data for the data freshness period of the data source: 12 hours by default. Click Data freshness on the data source and choose 15 minutes or 1 hour for quicker updates, or use Refresh data in the report.
Why does it say Data Studio?
Google renamed Looker Studio to Data Studio in 2026. It is the same product; your screens may show either name.
Can I white-label the report?
Yes. Copy the template, add your agency's logo and colours, and share it with each client.
Does it work with Google Sheets or BigQuery?
Not through this connector. Use the REST API to load data into Sheets or a warehouse.
Other integrations
Product names and logos belong to their owners. OLAB Assist is not affiliated with them.
