A weekly AI visibility routine that fits in one hour
A one-hour weekly routine for AI visibility: read the week's answer changes, pick a few gaps, fix or hand them off, and check what landed.
AI visibility fails as a someday-project and works as a routine. Answers shift, sources change, and a heroic one-time audit decays quickly. Google itself notes that its AI Mode and AI Overviews can run on different models and techniques, so their answers and links will differ1. What holds up is a short, repeatable loop. Here is one that fits in an hour a week, alone or with a tool.
Monday, first quarter hour: read the week's answers
Go through the recorded answers to your tracked questions (your log, if you track by hand; your dashboard, if a tool does it). You are looking for three kinds of change: questions where you appeared or disappeared, tone shifts on branded questions, and new competitors entering answers. Resist reading every answer — read the changes.
Second quarter hour: pick this week's gaps
From the changes, pick a handful of items worth acting on this week. Good candidates: a cited page that names a competitor but not you, a wrong fact about your product in an answer, a question in your category where you are never mentioned. Three to five items is enough; a backlog of fifty is a mood, not a plan.
The next twenty minutes: do the work or hand it off
Each item becomes one concrete action: update a page of yours, request a correction or a listing on a page you don't own, or publish the missing answer to a buyer's question. If an item is technical — crawler access, rendering, structured data — fix it at the source; OpenAI, for example, recommends allowing OAI-SearchBot in your robots.txt file to help ensure your site appears in search results2. If you work with an AI coding agent, this is the step to delegate: a well-packaged task with context, evidence and steps is something an agent can run while you review.
The last ten minutes: close the loop
Mark last week's items done or carried over, and note whether the answers moved for anything you fixed two or three weeks ago. Google's documentation says the best practices for SEO remain relevant for AI features in Search1. The routine works because it applies those fundamentals exactly where the answers say they are missing. Changes rarely land in a day; the weekly note is how you see them land at all.
The honest version of "it compounds"
No single week of this routine is impressive. The value is in the record: after a month you know which questions are moving, which cited pages matter in your category, and which fixes actually changed answers — knowledge your competitors who spot-check do not have.
Make Monday shorter
OLAB Assist prepares this routine for you: daily answer records, the week's changes surfaced, each gap turned into a task — context, evidence, steps and code — ready to hand to your AI agent. What is left for you is the reading and deciding; the looking is already done.
Start before next Monday
Start on the free plan, one site for 7 days with no card needed, or try any paid plan free for 7 days. Add your questions this week and run your first one-hour Monday with the answers already on the table.
